Who we are

Built in Detroit. Still riding.

Motor City Riot (MCR) is a group of riders, wrenchers, and enthusiasts brought together by a love of vintage mopeds. Officially founded in June 2011, MCR is Detroit’s oldest active vintage moped club and a proud branch of the Moped Army.

What started as a handful of people looking for others to ride with became a close-knit community built on friendship, respect, and a shared obsession with keeping old machines alive. Most weeks you’ll find us riding, wrenching, or both.

For many years our home was the Old Nasty Yacht Club. Today that tradition continues at Nu Nastee, where projects come to life, rides begin, and there’s almost always someone rebuilding an engine, cooking food, or telling stories.

Some summers we host our flagship rally, You Probably Won’t Get Murdered, welcoming riders from across the United States and Canada. Along with annual favorites like Get Your Shit Running for Spring, Friendsgiving, and Zombie Ride, we’ve spent more than a decade sharing Detroit and our love of mopeds.

Whether you’re a longtime rider, just picked up your first project, or simply want to see what this weird little hobby is about, you’ll find an open garage door and people willing to lend a hand.

Let’s ride.
